Your journey begins as you suit up and join an expert beekeeper to open and inspect a thriving hive. You’ll get an up-close view of the hive’s inner workings—spotting honey stores, brood chambers, pollen supplies, and, with a bit of luck, the queen bee herself! Everything is explained in detail, and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to ask questions along the way. Then, it’s your turn to become a beekeeper. Under supervision, you will open a hive, getting up close to the colony and conducting your own inspection. You’ll assess the hive’s health and see first hand how these amazing insects work together. After all the hive action, you’ll relax with a picnic lunch or afternoon tea featuring delicious local Sussex produce. It’s the perfect time to reflect on what you’ve seen, learned, and experienced.
