What's Included
Meeting and pickup
We offer pickup from ferry ports on Ukerewe Island. After booking, please share your exact pickup location, including your ferry name to help us find you easily.
Our driver and guide will arrive at your location and meet you at the entrance or reception area. You will easily recognize our team, as our guide or driver will be wearing a T-shirt or cap marked with Shangaa Africa.
This ensures a smooth and easy start to your tour without any stress.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Our guide will be waiting for you at BM Beach Hotel (formerly Monarch Beach Hotel). Once you arrive, please call or message to the provided phone number or find our guide wearing a T-shirt or cap with the words “Shangaa Africa.”
What to expect
● Arrive on Ukerewe Island by ferry from Mwanza or Kisorya and transfer to your hotel for check-in and lunch.
In the afternoon, enjoy a walking tour through the streets of Nansio, the main town of Ukerewe Island.
● Visit the traditional healer and learn about plant-based remedies, traditional practices, and the local healing culture.
Gain insight into the rich traditions of island life while strolling through streets and local neighborhoods.
● Overnight: Hotel on Ukerewe Island.
● Meals: Lunch & Dinner.
Day 2: Bicycle Adventure & Departure
● After breakfast, enjoy a morning bicycle ride through Nansio and nearby rural areas. Pass villages and farmland while observing daily life and island traditions, and take in the beautiful scenery.
● After lunch, transfer to the ferry for your return journey to Mwanza.
● Meals: Breakfast & Lunch.
