    DMZ

Imjingak Park is a symbolic park located near the DMZ that reflects the history of the Korean War and Korea’s division. Visitors can see monuments, memorials, and places where separated families pray for reunification, making it one of the closest places civilians can visit near the border. Freedom Bridge is a historic bridge where more than 12,000 prisoners of war returned to freedom after the Korean War armistice in 1953. Today it is covered with colorful ribbons and messages wishing for peace and reunification. The 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, discovered in 1978, is a secret tunnel dug by North Korea beneath the DMZ. Visitors can walk down into the tunnel and learn about the tense history between North and South Korea. Dora Observatory is one of the best places to view North Korea from South Korea. From the observatory, visitors can see North Korean villages, farmland, and even the Kaesong Industrial Complex on a clear day.
