This tour is for the explorers who want a bit of everything. You’ll get your fill of ancient history in the capital before we swap temple bells for the sounds of the jungle. In Chitwan, we trade the city streets for dugout canoes and jungle safaris, keeping our eyes peeled for rhinos, exotic birds, and maybe even a leopard. It’s an adventure that takes you from the heights of Newari architecture to the wild heart of the Terai plains.

    Pashupatinath Temple is a sacred Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, situated on the banks of the Bagmati River in Kathmandu. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979, the temple complex features numerous shrines, ashrams, and centuries-old inscriptions, and forms an integral part of the Kathmandu Valley’s cultural and spiritual heritage.

    Swayambhunath Stupa is an ancient Buddhist monument, believed to be over 2,000 years old, perched on a hill about 2 km west of Kathmandu. Overlooking the Kathmandu Valley, it is one of Nepal’s oldest and most revered religious sites. The stupa is popularly known as the “Monkey Temple” due to the large population of monkeys inhabiting the area.

    Patan Durbar Square

    Patan Durbar Square, located about 5 km southeast of Kathmandu in Lalitpur, is famous for its exquisite Newari architecture. Originally a royal palace complex of the Malla kings, it features ornate courtyards, pagoda-style temples, and over 1,200 monuments showcasing exceptional wood, stone, and metal craftsmanship.

    Kathmandu Durbar Square

    Kathmandu Durbar Square is a historic palace complex located in the heart of old Kathmandu and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The square reflects centuries of royal history, religion, and culture, serving as a living museum of Nepal’s artistic and spiritual heritage.

    Scenic Drive to Chitwan & Evening Tharu Village Walk

    Drive approximately 160 km (6 hours) to Chitwan and transfer to your hotel for check-in. Enjoy lunch at the hotel upon arrival. In the evening, experience a beautiful sunset and explore a local Tharu village.

    Jungle Activities at Chitwan National Park

    Start with tea/coffee and a nature walk with bird-watching. After breakfast, enjoy a jungle safari spotting deer, rhinoceros, leopards, monkeys, and birds. Take a dugout canoe ride on the Rapti River to see rare crocodiles and visit the Elephant Breeding Farm. In the evening, experience the Tharu Stick Dance. Overnight in Chitwan.

    Drive back to Kathmandu, optional visit to Manakamana.
