Your 4-day desert adventure begins with morning pickup from your hotel or riad in Fes. After meeting your driver, you’ll leave the city and head toward the Middle Atlas Mountains.
A short break in Ifrane, known for its European-style architecture and cool mountain climate. Enjoy the fresh air and take pictures before continuing south.
Continue through the Middle Atlas and stop in the cedar forest near Azrou. With a bit of luck, you may see the native Barbary macaques. Perfect moment for photos and nature appreciation.
Enjoy a beautiful viewpoint over the Ziz Valley, a long palm oasis stretching between the mountains and the desert. The green landscape offers a stunning contrast with the surrounding arid scenery.
Arrival in Merzouga in the afternoon. Check in at your accommodation near the dunes, relax, and enjoy a peaceful evening before dinner is served.
Begin the day early with a magnificent sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at your accommodation. Afterwards, prepare for a full day dedicated to discovering the culture and landscapes around Merzouga.
Visit the village of Khamlia, known worldwide for its Gnawa musicians. Enjoy a live performance and learn about the origins of this spiritual music brought by sub-Saharan communities.
Meet a nomad family living in traditional tents near the Erg Chebbi dunes. Share a cup of tea, learn about their daily life, and discover the traditions of Berber nomads who still live far from modern cities.
In the afternoon, get ready for a camel ride across the high golden dunes. You will stop on a scenic ridge to try sandboarding and watch the sunset. Arrive at your desert camp, enjoy dinner, and spend the night under the stars with music around the fire.
After breakfast at the camp, leave the dunes behind as you drive toward Rissani and the southern valleys. This part of the journey offers changing landscapes as you transition from the desert to mountain scenery.
If your tour falls on a market day (Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday), you’ll have the chance to visit Rissani’s traditional souk. It’s the main trading center of the region, known for spices, crafts, produce, and local food stalls.
Continue toward Tinghir, where you’ll visit the impressive Todra Gorge. The canyon’s 300-meter cliffs make it one of Morocco’s most spectacular natural formations. Enjoy free time to walk, take photos, and explore the gorge at your own pace.
Drive through the scenic Road of a Thousand Kasbahs before reaching the Dades Valley. Visit viewpoints overlooking the winding roads and the famous “Monkey Fingers” rock formations. Enjoy dinner and relax in a peaceful mountain setting.
After breakfast, take time to enjoy the peaceful scenery of the Dades Valley. Visit one or two viewpoints to admire the dramatic rock formations and the landscape shaped by centuries of natural erosion.
Continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa.” You’ll stop near the Atlas Studios, known for hosting major film productions. Take exterior photos before heading deeper into the Ouarzazate region.
Visit the UNESCO-listed village of Ait Ben Haddou, a masterpiece of earthen architecture. Explore its narrow alleys, learn about its history, and enjoy panoramic views over the ksar. Many famous movies and series were filmed here, making it one of Morocco’s most iconic landmarks.
Cross the High Atlas Mountains through the winding Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Enjoy short stops for photos and admire the dramatic landscapes, Berber villages, and mountain views along the way.
