Small-group Japanese whisky tasting designed for people who want to slow down and understand what they’re drinking. A certified whisky expert will guide you through a tasting of five Japanese single malt whiskies, with time to talk about what “Japanese whisky” really means, which styles and brands are worth seeking out, and how to enjoy Japanese whisky more confidently. Friendly, relaxed, and interactive, with plenty of conversation and great whisky throughout.

Opening special:
Tastings held in March include a complimentary bonus dram: a limited-edition, cask-strength Japanese whisky you might not otherwise encounter.

Meeting point

A sign at the entrance will indicate the whisky tasting venue. The venue is easily accessible by bus from Nijo Castle, Kinkakuji, Kyoto Station, and Gion-Shijo.

What to expect

You’ll begin with a brief introduction to Japanese whisky and how it developed, followed by a guided tasting of five Japanese single malt whiskies selected to highlight different distillery styles. Each whisky is introduced with context on its distillery and character, with time to taste, compare, and ask questions throughout. The session lasts around 90 minutes and takes place in a private indoor space, with light snacks available during the tasting.
