After enjoying your camel ride across the dunes of Elsen Tasarkhai, we will drive for a little over an hour to your next destination, the historic town of Kharkhorin. Upon arrival, you will settle into your ger camp, relax, and enjoy a peaceful evening surrounded by the beautiful steppe landscape.
Visit Erdene Zuu Monastery, the oldest surviving Buddhist monastery in Mongolia, founded in 1586 near the site of ancient Karakorum. Explore its impressive white stupa walls, beautifully decorated temples, and historic Buddhist artworks while learning about Mongolia’s spiritual history. Surrounded by vast steppe landscapes, the monastery offers a peaceful atmosphere and a deep connection to the country’s cultural and religious heritage.
At Karakorum Museum, you will discover remarkable artifacts from the ancient Mongol Empire. The museum displays archaeological findings from the former capital of Karakorum, including stone monuments, inscriptions, tools, ceramics, and religious artifacts. Visiting the museum provides deeper insight into the history, culture, and global influence of the Mongol Empire before exploring the surrounding historical sites.
After lunch, we will begin your scenic drive back to Ulaanbaatar, enjoying the open steppe landscapes along the way. We will arrive in the city in the evening and drop you off at your hotel or preferred location.
