On this tour, your guide will take you on a culinary journey through Bruges.
You will taste waffles, beer, fries and chocolate in selected local shops and learn interesting backgrounds about Flemish food culture in a fun way.
This tour is entirely in German, which is unique in Bruges.
We meet in front of the Medi Market in the marketplace in Bruges
The tour ends in the garden of Spanoghe House of God
Your guide will be waiting for you in front of the Medi Market in Bruges Market Square. You can recognize him/her by the green umbrella with the "Your Guide in Bruges" logo on it. He/she will greet you with a bottle of still water per participant, introduce himself/herself and give you an overview of the tour.
In front of the House of Waffles you will get a taste of a Brussels & Liège waffle. You will learn why Belgian waffles are not available and why waffles have been eaten for more than a thousand years.
In the Bourgogne des Flanders you will taste 6 different small Belgian beers (beer flight), accompanied by cheese cubes with mustard. Your guide will explain why Belgian beer has more to offer than German beer and backgrounds on Belgian brewing traditions.
The local Frituur 't Brugsch Friethuys is located at Sint Salvators Cathedral. There you will taste Belgian fries with stoofvlees sauce & mayonaise. Your guide will tell you what is special about Belgian fries and why the expression French Fries is an insult to the Belgians.
The Chocolate Line is the shop of Belgium's most famous chocolatier Dominique Persoone, who is a real Brugesian. There you will get a vivid explanation of how chocolate is made and how Belgium became so famous for chocolate. As a taste, you will receive one of Persoone's very special chocolates.
Your guide will accompany you to 2 other local chocolate shops where you will taste Belgian chocolates & chocolate truffles
Opposite the old Sint Jan hospital is Otto's Waffle Atelier. There you will taste the Bruges waffle and learn what makes it so special.
In the idyllic garden of the Spanoghe church you will get a Cuberdon and your guide will tell you why this sweet is also called Ghent's Nose. Finally, your guide will share his/her personal recommendations for restaurants, cafes and activities with you.
