Take a break at E’ling Park, one of Chongqing’s most peaceful hilltop escapes. From its viewing tower, you can see the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers winding through the city’s layered skyline. Paths lined with bamboo and pavilions offer a quiet contrast to downtown’s chaos—a perfect spot to breathe, sip tea, and watch the mountain city unfold beneath you.
Built in 1996, the Crown Escalator is 112 meters long with a vertical rise of about 52 meters. Slowly moving through the enclosed passage, it reveals Chongqing not at once, but layer by layer.
Glide past the Sujiaba Overpass, a masterpiece of Chongqing’s layered engineering. With roads weaving above and below like ribbons in the air, it’s a true showcase of the city’s “mountain maze” design. Standing here, you can watch cars flow through multiple levels at once—a surreal sight that feels more like a sci-fi movie than everyday traffic.
A redeveloped old residential area turned into a trendy neighborhood with lots of independent creative shops.
Diamond Plaza for Hongya cave nightview No trip to Chongqing is complete without a stop at Hongya Cave. At night, the wooden stilt houses light up like a glowing fairytale castle on the riverside. It’s the most photographed landmark in the city, perfect for your postcard-worthy shots.
