To start, we will stroll around the piazza Maggiore enjoying its medieval palaces and the magnificent Basilica di San Petronio. We'll discover the historical path of Bologna, learn how it became one of the most developed cities in Italy, having combined the charm of a small cozy town with the movement and development of metropolis.
Then we’ll visit the Archiginnasio – one of the University palaces (but not the main one) where you will admire the amazing murals, emblems and medallions and sense the powerful energy of the Bologna University Science flowing through the ages.
After that we’ll find ourselves under the famous Due Torri - leaning towers Asinelli and Garisenda – and learn why there used to be so many towers in the city, who lives in some that remained and what the towers have to do with Dante Alighieri.
In the extraordinary temple of the "Seven Churches" of Basilica di Santo Stefano, you will be surprised by ancient spiritual bonds among religions and appreciate the complicated design of the building.
At via Zamboni you'll touch the very first University of Europe and discover a great importance of the Bologna University and the impact student life has had on the city for all these centuries.
Strolling under the colorful porticos – streets covered in the shape of arches, listed in UNESCO - we'll come across some secrets of Bologna, hidden under the porticoes many centuries ago and shrouded in legends. Finally, we'll open a window to a small canal – little Bolognese Venice - and uncover wherefore all these fascinating masterpieces were created.
At the end of our walk we'll take a cup of real Italian coffee with fragrant Italian pastry or gelato in a wonderful legendary bar and, if desired, will pause over for a glass of regional wine. During the adventure you will find out why Bologna is called "La dotta, la rossa, la grassa" – a red wise fat woman, you will see beautiful works of famous artists, explore places where Mozart, Copernicus, Petrarch studied, taste a special local “raviole con la mostarda” and immerse in atmosphere Bolognese.
