Meeting and pickup
The surf school is located on the premises of Roots beach bar at Praia da Barra. From the parking area next to the bus stop, walk up the wooden boardwalk through the dunes. At the top, turn left and follow the boardwalk toward the beach bars until you reach Roots beach bar.
What to expect
This activity is about catching your first waves in a safe, relaxed, and genuinely fun way. You’ll meet your instructor directly on the beach at Praia da Barra, get a comfortable Billabong wetsuit and an easy, stable surfboard, then join a short and clear beach briefing covering safety, ocean basics, paddling, and how to stand up.
In the water, your instructor stays close, helps you catch waves, and guides you step by step so you can stand up and ride, even if you’ve never surfed before. Small groups mean personal attention, good energy in the water, and no pressure. It’s about enjoying the ocean, having fun, and leaving the beach with real memories, not just photos.
After the session, you can shower, change, and relax right on the beachfront, feeling like you truly experienced surfing, not just tried it.
