  Shuri is to Okinawa what Kyoto is to mainland Japan — the heart of its history and culture. At the center stands Shuri Castle, once the royal palace of the Ryukyu Kingdom.   Shikinaen Garden

  Completed in 1799, Shikinaen Garden was the Ryukyu royal family’s largest villa, used for relaxation and entertaining Chinese envoys.   Located on a cliff overlooking the ocean in Naha City, Naminoue Shrine is the top shrine among the Ryukyu Eight Shrines and is known locally as “Nanmin-san”.   Kokusai-dori (International Street) – Naha, Okinawa Kokusai-dori is a 1.6 km main street in downtown Naha, known as the “Miracle Mile” for its rapid post-war development. It’s the bustling hub for shopping, dining, and entertainment, perfect for experiencing Okinawan culture and nightlife. Highlights: Shopping: Okinawan crafts, pottery, glass, clothing, and local liquor (awamori). Dining & Nightlife: Restaurants, cafes, bars, many with live traditional music.   This is an authentic Chinese-style garden located in Kume, Naha City, built to commemorate the sister-city relationship with Fuzhou City in Fujian Province, China. It opened in 1992. Constructed using materials from Fuzhou and the craftsmanship of Chinese artisans, the garden is known for its exotic atmosphere, and its nighttime illumination is especially popular with visitors.
