For driving on our tours in Japan, you must have valid driving documents that comply with Japanese law. Please read carefully.

International Driving Permit (IDP):
If your country issues an IDP under the 1949 Geneva Convention (for example: USA, UK, Canada, Australia, etc.), you must:

Obtain the IDP before leaving your home country from an official issuing authority

Bring the original physical IDP (PDFs, copies, or online IDPs are not accepted in Japan)

Bring your original driver’s license and passport on the tour day

⚠️ IDPs not issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention are NOT valid in Japan.

Licenses That Require a Japanese Translation:
If your license is from countries such as Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland, Taiwan, Monaco, and certain others, an IDP is not accepted. Instead, you must obtain an official Japanese translation issued by:

Japan Automobile Federation (JAF)

Your country’s embassy or consulate in Japan

Authorized organizations such as ADAC (Germany)

Translations must be official originals (no PDFs or photocopies)
Online or unofficial translations are not accepted
Bring your original license, Japanese translation, and passport on the tour day
