Itinerary Angkor Wat Start the day early to admire the magnificent sunrise over Angkor Wat, the world’s largest religious monument. Exploring the temple and discovering its history and bas-reliefs.
Angkor Thom – Former Royal Capital Angkor Thom, built in the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII, was the capital of the Khmer Empire. The site offers a unique blend of history, art and architecture. Strengths: Bayon: famous for its 216 smiling faces carved in stone and fascinating architectural style. Terrace of the Elephants: former royal platform decorated with reliefs representing elephants and scenes of war. Terrace of the Leper King: sculpted platform with mysterious figures, used for royal ceremonies.
Ta Prohm – Temple of the Jungle Ta Prohm is one of the most impressive temples in Angkor, famous for its huge tree roots that cover the ruins. The atmosphere is unique, between nature and history. The site is also known for the movie Tomb Raider.
Preah Khan – Peaceful Monastic Temple Preah Khan is a vast complex built in the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII. Less frequented than other temples in Angkor, it offers a calm and authentic atmosphere, ideal for walking and discovering Khmer architecture.
Neak Pean is a unique little temple built on an island in the center of a basin. It was originally conceived as a Buddhist healing place, surrounded by four ponds symbolizing the elements.
Ta Som is a charming 12th century temple, famous for its tree that invaded the east gate, creating a unique and photogenic decor. Less crowded than Ta Prohm, it offers a quiet and authentic atmosphere.
Banteay Srei – The Pink Jewel of Angkor Banteay Srei, built in the 10th century, is famous for its pink stone and finely detailed Khmer sculptures, considered among the most beautiful in Khmer art. This temple is smaller but extremely refined and photogenic.
