The tour continues through charming medieval squares, leading you to the next restaurant where you’ll taste black risotto, a beloved specialty of Dalmatia. Diocletian's Palace is a stunning Roman palace and the historic heart of Split, where ancient history is still very much alive today. Built in the 4th century for Emperor Diocletian, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the best-preserved Roman monuments in the world. During your walk, your guide will bring the palace to life with engaging stories about its history and what life was like in the time of Emperor Diocletian. You’ll explore highlights such as the Peristyle Square, the Golden Gate... . As you wander through its narrow stone streets filled with shops, cafés, and hidden courtyards, you’ll experience a unique blend of ancient heritage and vibrant Mediterranean life.
You’ll also see the impressive statue of Grgur Ninski, one of Split’s most iconic landmarks. The monument was created by the famous Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović and first erected in 1929. According to tradition, touching his big toe brings good luck and makes wishes come true—so don’t forget to give it a try and make a wish!
