The tour starts from Surnadal Camping Brekkøya, however, we offer pickup for our guests in front of the Surnadal Culture Hall also known as "Surnadal Kulturhus", a landmark in the city center.

Please be ready for pick-up at agreed time. The weather in Norway can be unpredictable, always dress accordingly. The tour require some walking, so hiking shoes are advisable. As it is a private tour, guests can personalize the difficulty level of the excursion.

    Meeting point/starting point. The meet up point. Here you can fill up water for the trip, check your equipment and gear. A small convenience store is on site in case you need a last minute item or bathroom stop. Your adventure begins at Surnadal Camping. From here, you'll drive south along the Todalsvegen (Fv 65) road, which hugs the beautiful Todalsfjorden. The first leg of the journey to Kvanne offers stunning fjord views to your right.

    Your first stop is this unique botanical garden, nestled on the slopes of the fjord. Founded in the 1940s, it is a living cultural heritage site. Take a leisurely stroll along the forest paths and marvel at the exotic collection. The arboretum is famous for its over 375 different types of rhododendrons, which create a spectacular display of color from late May to June, and its impressive collection of 250 conifer varieties from around the world . Before you leave, be sure to visit the on-site café. They are known for serving homemade cakes decorated with edible flowers from the garden—a true local specialty

    Todalen Village Next, you'll drive deeper into the valley to reach the charming village of Todalen. This area is known as the gateway to the Trollheimen mountain range . Here, you can admire the historic Todalshytta, a traditional lodge from the "English era" of mountaineering in Norway, which now serves as a private cabin for rent . The area is perfect for a short walk to stretch your legs and enjoy the peaceful valley atmosphere.

    Kårvatn - The Cleanest Air in Europe From Todalen, your route will take you further into the pristine wilderness to the remote area of Kårvatn. This is a designated site celebrated for having some of the cleanest air on the continent .
