We start right in the heart of Fukuoka's Yatai culture along the Nakasu River. You will sit at a cozy, open-air stall accommodating just a few people. Enjoy delicious bite-sized foods like grilled pork belly, Mentaiko (spicy cod roe) egg rolls, or Hakata gyoza. The atmosphere is warm and communal.
Next, we move into the bustling Tenjin district to visit a traditional Izakaya. Here, you can sit back and relax while tasting locally brewed sake from Kyushu. We will order a few regional specialties, allowing you to experience the vibrant indoor drinking culture of Fukuoka's locals.
It is a local tradition to end a night of drinking with a steaming bowl of Hakata Tonkotsu (pork bone) ramen. We will take you to a favorite local ramen joint—far better than the tourist traps. You will learn how to order your noodle firmness and how to ask for "Kaedama" (an extra serving of noodles).
