  At this point you will enter the surroundings of the Cid Quarter, one of those places where history and legend intertwine until almost unable to separate. Here tradition places the presence of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, the Champion Cid, not as the Castilian hero that everyone imagines, but as a knight in the service of the Kingdom of León, at a time when borders, loyalties and power were constantly changing. Leon was a Kingdom before many other territories of the Peninsula, with its own court, its own kings and its own political weight. In fact, for centuries, it was one of the most important centers of power in the Christian North. Here you will understand that : El Cid is not only an epic character, but a complex figure, also linked to Leon, to the struggles between kingdoms that were not only battles, they were strategies, alliances and betrayals.   Basílica de San Isidoro

  On this visit you will arrive at the Royal Collegiate Church of San Isidoro, one of the most important Romanesque ensembles in Europe and symbol of the power of the former Kingdom of León. From its exterior you will appreciate its impressive architecture, its porticos full of detail and the historical weight of a key place in medieval politics. Courts considered to be the origin of European Parliamentarianism were held here in 1188. In addition, it is linked to the enigmatic Chalice of Doña Urraca, a piece that some identify with the Holy Grail. You will know a place where history, power and legend intertwine.

  Here you can see the Roman wall of Leon, one of the most impressive vestiges of its origin as a military camp of the Legio VII Gemina in the 1st century. These structures not only protected the city, but defined the strategic power of Leo in the Roman Empire. Over the centuries it was expanded and reinforced, preserving today sections that allow us to understand its original magnitude. Walking next to it is walking through the starting point of the city, where a story that still stands began.

  Museo Casa Botines Gaudi

  Just at this point, you will discover that Gaudí is not only from Catalonia. With our guide you will admire from the outside the Casa Botines, built in 1892, which combines medieval appearance with structural innovations typical of modernism. It was designed as a commercial and residential building, something very advanced for its time. His aesthetic of strength is not coincidental: Gaudí integrated it into the historical context of León. And on its facade you will discover a unique detail: an iron dragon that is not only decorative, but part of the structural system of the building. A work where nothing is casual, full of secrets and conundrums.

  Together with our guide you will learn about one of Leon’s most powerful families as you arrive at the Guzman Palace, one of the great jewels of the Renaissance in León. Ordered to be built in the 16th century, its imposing facade reflects the noble power of the time. Its sobriety, elegant interior courtyard (hidden behind its walls) and strategic location in front of Casa Botines stand out. It will be appreciated from the outside since today it is the seat of the Council. This palace is a symbol of authority and prestige in the city.

  In this visit you will also travel the Calle Ancha, the great historical axis of León, where for centuries religious and civil power crossed. This road connects the Cathedral with the old political center of the city, and follows the route of ancient medieval routes. To walk through it is to understand how urban life was organized in the heart of the Kingdom of León.   You will see the exterior of the Palace of Count Luna, one of the most important civil buildings of the medieval Lion. Built in the 14th century by a powerful noble family, it was the scene of power, intrigue and key decisions. Over time, the building changed function and became linked to the Court of the Inquisition, adding a darker layer to its history. Among its walls were processes, trials and tensions typical of an era marked by religious control. A place where history wasn't always kind.

  On your guided tour you will also tour the Humid Quarter, the most lively and social heart of León, where history blends with gastronomy. This latticework of medieval streets was for centuries a passing area of merchants and pilgrims, and today it is the epicenter of the tapas of León.   The tour culminates in the Plaza Mayor de León, one of the most emblematic spaces of the city, heart of social life since the 17th century. Surrounded by portals and with its characteristic reddish color, it was for centuries the scene of markets, celebrations and popular meetings. From here you can understand the daily pulse of Leon.
