This is a magical craft that requires no scissors! With just your hands, you can transform ordinary flat paper into intricate 3D patterns. Known as a “living fossil” of Manchu culture, it carries the rich heritage and artistic wisdom of the Manchu people.

What to expect

Discover Manchu Culture: Traditional Paper Craft Workshop in Shenyang
Learn traditional Manchu-inspired paper craft and create your own artwork to take home.

Introduction:
Visit the studios and products of intangible cultural heritage inheritors.
Begin with a short introduction to Manchu culture and its role in the history of Shenyang and the Qing Dynasty.

Paper Craft Demonstration:
Learn about traditional paper craft techniques used in Northern China.
Your host will demonstrate how the patterns are created.

Hands-on Workshop:
Now it’s your turn.
You’ll create your own paper artwork step by step.
No experience needed.

Take Your Artwork Home:
At the end of the workshop you’ll have your own handmade souvenir with a nice bag.

End point in Liaoning Province Museum:
This experience ends near Liaoning Provincial Museum.
After the workshop, guests are welcome to visit the museum on their own and explore its rich collection of Chinese art and historical treasures. (The tickets of the Museum is for free )
