What to expect

Begin your experience by meeting your guide at a traditional Japanese house in Takayama. Learn how to make a bento box with a professional chef or local guide. Use ingredients like premium Hida beef, edible wild plants, and mountain vegetables to create traditional dishes.

After preparing your dishes, pack your bento box with colorful and beautifully arranged food. Then, take your freshly made bento box and head to Shiroyama mountain for a hike.

During the hike, discover edible wild plants, nuts, and fruits with your guide. Learn Japanese cuisine history and how these plants are used in Japanese cuisine and local dishes.

Keep an eye out for wildlife, such as Japanese serows, foxes, raccoon dogs, flying squirrels, and rabbits.

At the top of the mountain, enjoy your handmade bento box while taking in the breathtaking views. After your meal, hike back down the mountain and return to the meeting point.
