What to expect

Within a private Kyoto temple in the heart of the city, gazing at a tranquil garden while playing the Shamisen (a traditional Japanese three-stringed instrument) is a journey to "Savor the Sound of Japan."

No musical background required—beginners very welcome. Produce sounds within minutes and, together with your instructor, perform two songs: a "Classical song" and a "World-famous song" with unique Japanese arrangements. Through these sounds, experience "Wabi-sabi"—the Japanese aesthetic of finding beauty in the scenery and the passage of time.

A musician with 25 years of experience guides this journey. Strings are tuned to 528Hz for relaxation, providing a resonance that blends with the temple's tranquility. All instruments provided. Chairs also available. Rainy-day friendly. Solo travelers welcome.
