What to expect

Step into Arashiyama Ninja House in Kyoto and create your own real metal shuriken through a traditional casting process.

Your experience begins with a brief introduction to the hidden weapon culture of Japan’s samurai and ninja era, along with the basics of metal casting. Guided by staff, you will create your own piece step by step, from preparing the mold to pouring molten metal and polishing the finished surface.

Depending on the plan you select, you can create different sizes and styles of shuriken. Additional upgrade options, including other shuriken designs and kunai, may also be available on-site, subject to availability.

One of the most exciting moments is the metal-pouring stage. Watch solid metal melt into a bright, silvery liquid, then carefully pour it into the mold under staff guidance. After the metal cools and hardens, use specialized tools to smooth and polish it until the final shape and shine appear.

You can also engrave your initials onto your finished piece, making it a truly personal creation.

At the end of the workshop, take home a one-of-a-kind metal shuriken that you cast, polished, and personalized yourself in Kyoto.
