Paint the Golden Gate Bridge at Crissy Field in an outdoor watercolor experience shaped by the bay, the light, and the moment.

No experience needed. All professional-grade materials are included, the same paints I use. You’ll receive a hand-drawn landscape line drawing so you can start painting right away.

We begin by looking at the landscape together, what stands out, where the light is, how distance softens things, then move into simple watercolor techniques and painting your own version of the scene.

Sessions are small and personal, with plenty of individual guidance along the way. The goal isn’t to get everything perfect, but to learn how to see and capture a moment.

I teach regularly at the San Francisco Botanical Garden and Sharon Art Studio, and have collaborated with institutions including the Asian Art Museum and California Academy of Sciences.

You’ll leave with a finished painting, and a different way of looking at the city.

What to expect

Step into San Francisco through line-and-wash watercolor at Crissy Field, with the iconic Golden Gate Bridge as your backdrop. In this small-group onsite experience, you’ll capture the colors and sweeping views of the bay with guidance from an established artist who teaches at the SF Botanical Garden and Sharon Art Studio, and collaborates with institutions like the Asian Art Museum.

Absolutely no experience is necessary. I’ll help you simplify what you see and sketch with confidence. To remove any pressure, you will be provided with a lightly pre-drawn template so you can bypass the blank page and jump straight into the joy of painting.

All materials are included and are the exact same professional quality I use in my own work. Designed for curious beginners, this is a memorable way to slow down, soak in the bay light, and leave with a one-of-a-kind, hand-painted souvenir of the city.
