I'm a Glasgow-born chef and I lead food tours of this wonderful-but-underrated city. I'm a chef who has worked in some of the city's best dining spots, cooked at Scotland's first Michelin two-star restaurant, and moonlighted in stand-up comedy. Both Glasgow and Scottish food don't get the attention they deserve, and I aim to show people another side to the city and its unique cuisine. Although my tours use food as the jumping-off point, it's not entirely about eating. We talk about Glasgow's history and its role in the British Empire, the city's rough-and-tumble culture, and even learn some Glaswegian slang. I led food tours in Cambodia for many years and am delighted to be back in my home town, sharing with visitors the city that I love.
Steven will meet you at the Cowcaddens Subway station. It's a very small station and we will meet near the ticket booth.
We start our tour by meeting up at Cowcaddens Subway Station. From there we'll visit three food stops in the Cowcaddens area, before heading to Merchant City.
Next we head to Merchant City, the centre of Glasgow's historical heart. We'll stop at two more eateries here, and learn a bit more about the cuisine and how it relates to the city's storied history.
Depending on the day of the week, we'll stop in the Saltmarket for another bite or two to eat before ambling back to Merchant City.
Once we are sure you've had enough to eat, we will end the tour back in Merchant City. From here we can direct you to a fantastic nearby pub, or to the subway, or Glasgow Central Station.
