Make your own pair of leather shoes in Tokyo.

Spend a full day in a small Nakameguro atelier, hand-stitching your own Hanumaan Shoes with Tochigi Leather and Vibram soles.

This is not a simple souvenir craft. You will learn real leatherworking and shoemaking techniques directly from a professional craftsman, ask questions throughout the day, and leave with a finished pair you can actually wear.

No previous experience is required.

If you are coming from Nakameguro Station, please look for the large torii gate of Nakameguro Hachiman Shrine. We are on the first floor of the white building directly across from the large torii gate.

What to expect

Make your own pair of Hanumaan Shoes by hand in Nakameguro, Tokyo.

Spend a full day at R atelier, a small leather workshop in Nakameguro, and create your own pair of original leather shoes from start to finish.

This workshop is designed for people who want to experience more than a simple craft activity. You will learn how leather shoes can be made using leathercraft techniques such as cutting, punching, hand-stitching, shaping, and assembling.

No previous shoemaking experience is required.

You will work step by step with a professional leather craftsman, using Tochigi Leather and custom Vibram soles. The upper is made with a combination of saddle leather and shrink leather, chosen to give the shoes both structure and character.

Throughout the day, you are welcome to ask questions about leather, tools, hand-stitching, shoemaking, and leathercraft in general.

The workshop starts at 10:00 AM and is scheduled to finish around 5:00 PM, with a one-hour lunch break.

By the end of the day, you will leave with a finished pair of Hanumaan Shoes made by your own hands.

This is a full-day craft experience for anyone who has ever wondered,
“Could I really make my own shoes?”
