Participants will learn to create a unique shot glass-sized boot, a stylish nod to the state’s iconic fashion. In this engaging class, students will roll out slabs, use templates, and assemble their clay projects with ease. Each boot can be finished with light tread or texture for a personal touch. Perfect for ages 12 and up, this creative experience offers a fantastic opportunity to discover the joys of working with clay while bringing home a piece of Alaskan charm. No prior experience is necessary, making it ideal for both beginners and seasoned crafters.

What to expect

Step into Alaska’s creative side with this fun, hands-on pottery class where travelers craft their very own Bitty Boot—a shot glass–sized version of one of Alaska’s most iconic fashion staples. During this relaxed studio experience, participants will be guided step by step through the process of hand-building a ceramic boot from scratch.

You’ll learn how to roll clay slabs, use templates, and assemble your piece while adding personal details such as textured sides or light tread on the bottom. No prior experience is needed, making this an ideal activity for beginners as well as those with some clay experience. After the class, your finished piece will be professionally processed and completed within approximately three to four weeks, creating a lasting handmade souvenir of your time in Alaska.
