3Chiesa del Soccorso
The Church of the Rescue, dedicated to the Madonna della Neve, is one of the most iconic places on the island of Ischia. It stands on a small rocky promontory in Forio, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, with its characteristic white architecture in Greek-Byzantine style. Next to the church stands the Torrione, a watchtower symbol of Forio that now houses a museum. The churchyard, with its piperno crosses and the eighteenth-century portal decorated with majolica depicting the Passion of Christ, is one of the most photographed viewpoints in Italy.
