A must-see for international travelers!
We have organized a special experience in local Osaka where you can get hands-on with Japanese bamboo and create your own "bamboo light" by drilling patterns into the stalk. Located close to Kansai International Airport, it is easily accessible for a quick activity. You can take your finished bamboo creation home to display, adding a wonderful touch to your living space. It also makes for a perfect, photogenic shot for social media—we are confident you will love the experience!

Staff at JAMSTAND—a shop offering takeout food and apparel/goods—will handle the reception.
What to expect
This workshop involves creating a "bamboo lantern"—a piece of bamboo with holes drilled into it that glows beautifully at night.
Join us in Osaka to craft your own magical lantern using locally sourced bamboo (approximately 30cm in length).
You get to take your finished lantern home with you as a memento of your connection with Japanese nature.
The process takes less than an hour per person for a single lantern.
It’s a simple and fun activity, so please feel free to join us!

Choose your favorite piece of bamboo.

Tape the design template onto the bamboo.
↓
Drill holes using various bit sizes.
↓
Once all the holes are drilled, brush away the dust.
↓
Finished!
We’ll insert a light so you can see the final result before you head home.
We are located near Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine, so it’s a perfect activity to enjoy before or after sightseeing!
