Washi Lamp Experience in a Hot Spring of Light Studio

3 hours (approximately)
Offered in: Japanese and 1 more

True, Unrestricted Creativity: No scripts or rigid rules. You create an organic, one-of-a-kind piece of art. If you want to experiment, we do it—like when a guest wanted to embed flowers, so we went outside, gathered some, and made it happen.

A Space Unlike Any Other: The studio blows people away. Filled with lamps that look like living creatures breathing light, it creates a deep "flow state" where people completely lose track of time.

Unfiltered, Honest Conversation: I’ve lived and worked in Japan for 25 years as an artist and consultant. You get a unique, unfiltered perspective and real conversations about local culture, tucked away in a peaceful, hidden-gem neighborhood.

What to expect

Unwind in a space designed to feel like a "hot spring of light" and create a truly one-of-a-kind piece of art using rare, high-quality Japanese paper (washi).

This isn't a traditional, stiff, scripted workshop. I’ve lived in Japan for 25 years working as an artist, consultant, and coach. Because of that, the 3-hour session is packed with completely unfiltered, deep conversations about the "real Japan" that you won't hear on standard tourist routes.

We are a genuine hidden gem—tucked away on a quiet, peaceful street right near a major attraction in Tempozan.

During the workshop, you will lose track of time, get deep into your creative flow, and build a beautiful lamp. Don't worry about getting it home, either; I provide very sturdy, branded boxes to protect your creation for the journey, along with small LEDs and a surprise gift.

You will also get to meet my Japanese wife, Kotose, who runs the adjoining cafe. Depending on the package you choose, you can also include an authentic matcha and Japanese sweets experience crafted by her.

Come learn about the amazing Washi industry, see how we are working to preserve this craft, and make something no one else has ever made before.
