The guide will meet you in front of Tatte Bakery & Cafe and from there we will go to our first stop.
We enter Harvard Square. This iconic intersection is a crossroads of history and contemporary culture. From the historic Out of Town News stand to the legendary bookstores and cafes where world leaders and Nobel laureates once sat, the Square is the living, breathing soul of Cambridge. While Harvard Yard represents the solemn, historic prestige of the university, Harvard Square represents its vibrant, modern energy. It is where the "Academic" world meets the daily life of students, professors, and street performers.
We enter Cambridge Common. This public park is a National Historic Landmark that serves as a quiet sanctuary amidst the academic energy of the city. It is a place where history was made and where the community now gathers to enjoy the modern beauty of the Cambridge landscape. We will walk through the historic Cambridge Common, a serene landscape that served as a pivotal camp during the American Revolution. We will be standing at the site where Washington organized his troops. As we stand beneath the shadow of Harvard’s elite institutions, you’ll see how this sacred ground has transitioned from a site of military command to a beautiful modern park at the heart of the world’s most prestigious academic district.
Step back in time as we journey through the historic Harvard Yard. We’ll trace the evolution of American education from the red bricks of Massachusetts Hall to the grand columns of Widener Library. Along the way, you’ll discover the secrets of Sever Hall, find a moment of peace at Memorial Church, and—of course—stop to touch the foot of the John Harvard Statue for a bit of academic good luck.
After soaking in the centuries of tradition at Harvard, we’ll hop on the historic Red Line for a quick ride across Cambridge. It’s the local way to travel as we transition from the colonial charm of the Ivy League to the cutting-edge, futuristic world of MIT. The T fair is $2.40 per person
At MIT, we’ll stand in the majestic Killian Court for the best view of the Great Dome, the architectural heart of the campus. From there, we’ll step into the Infinite Corridor, the legendary 'artery' of the institute where we’ll walk the same path as Nobel laureates. We’ll wrap up among the surreal, metallic curves of the Stata Center, sharing the famous stories and ingenious 'hacks' (pranks) that prove these world-class minds also have a world-class sense of humor. We will do a peaceful walk along the Charles River Esplanade. With the shimmering water and the Boston skyline as your backdrop, you'll see why this is one of the most photographed spots in New England.
