Shinjuku Chef‐Led Night Food Tour — What Guides Don’t Show

3 hours (approximately)
Offered in: Japanese and 2 more

The Tokyo that only a Chef knows is very different from what appears in guidebooks. I am a Chef with 20 years of experience and a certified Guide, and I want to show you the Tokyo that is lived in its narrow alleys, tiny bars, and aromas that never appear on any tourist map. I'll take you to my favorite spots: hidden izakayas, local bars, and places where the food carries real history. I'll share with you the secrets, techniques, and flavors I've learned while working in Japan. If you’re looking for an authentic, deep experience guided by someone who truly lives this city, this tour is for you.

What to expect

Led by a Chef and licensed Guide, this walking tour explores the most iconic areas of Shinjuku: Kabukichō, Omoide Yokocho, and Golden Gai. We’ll walk through traditional alleyways, neon‐lit streets, and hidden local spots while choosing what to taste—secret‐style ramen, A5 Wagyu, authentic sushi, and more. As a Chef, I explain the different types of Japanese food and drinks, and based on what you feel like eating, I guide you to the best flavors I know in Shinjuku. I also share the real secrets behind Japanese cuisine — the kind of details only someone from inside the kitchen truly knows. I'll explain each dish, its ingredients, and how locals enjoy it, while sharing the history, culture, and unique stories of the neighborhood. A true cultural and culinary experience designed to show you the real Tokyo — and to let you enjoy the city the way locals do.
