Imjingak Peace Park is an important historical and symbolic site located near the DMZ. It was created to remember the pain of national division and to express the hope for peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula. Many Koreans whose hometowns were in the North once came here because they could not return to their families after the Korean War. Visitors can see the Freedom Bridge, which is associated with the return of prisoners of war after the Korean War. Another important landmark is the steam locomotive, which was damaged during the war and still carries many bullet marks, showing the tragedy of the conflict. The park also has a monument commemorating the broadcasts for separated families, which remembers the emotional television broadcasts that helped reunite family members who had been separated for decades. Today, Imjingak Peace Park is not only a place to learn about the Korean War, but also a place to reflect on peace, reconciliation, and the hope for a better future.
The DMZ is one of the most important historical sites on the Korean Peninsula. During this tour, visitors can learn about the Korean War, the division of Korea, and the continuing hope for peace and reunification. The Third Infiltration Tunnel was discovered beneath the DMZ and is believed to have been built by North Korea as a possible invasion route. Visitors can walk through part of the tunnel and experience the tense history of the divided peninsula firsthand. At Dora Observatory, visitors can look across the DMZ toward North Korea. On a clear day, flagpoles, propaganda villages, farmland, GaeSeong City, and surrounding mountains may be visible. The tour also includes Unification Village, a small rural village near the DMZ where visitors can browse local agricultural products and souvenirs. It is a meaningful place to reflect on life near the border and the hope for a peaceful future.
The Gamaksan Suspension Bridge is a scenic mountain suspension bridge in Paju, located near the DMZ. It was completed and opened in 2016 as part of the Gamaksan Healing Theme Park project. The bridge is 150 meters long, 1.5 meters wide, and approximately 45 meters above the valley. When it opened, it was known as the longest pillar-free mountain suspension bridge in Korea. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the surrounding forest and nearby Ungye Falls. They can also take a refreshing walk in nature and experience the excitement of crossing the gently swaying bridge. The walking path includes some uphill sections and stairs, so comfortable shoes are recommended.
