A former Roman temple, now a Catholic church, dedicated to "all gods." Built by Hadrian around 126 AD, it is the best-preserved ancient Roman building in the world. Piazzale Giuseppe Garibaldi

Piazzale Giuseppe Garibaldi sits high on the Janiculum Hill (Gianicolo) in Rome and ranks among the most breathtaking spots in the Eternal City. This wide, open square offers one of the finest panoramic views of Rome. From the terrace edge, the city unfolds before you: the majestic dome of St. Peter’s Basilica, the silver ribbon of the Tiber River winding through the streets, the red-tiled rooftops of Trastevere, and farther out the Pantheon, the Vittoriano, and on clear days even the distant Alban Hills. At sunset the entire scene turns golden and romantic, making it one of the best places in Rome for photography.

Ponte Flaminio is a grand and monumental bridge in northern Rome that spans the Tiber River with imposing elegance, linking the Parioli and Tor di Quinto districts. Stretching nearly 255 meters in length and 27 meters in width, the bridge rests on five graceful arches and is entirely clad in warm-toned Roman travertine that glows golden-white in the sunlight. Designed by architect Armando Brasini (with structural engineering by Aristide Giannelli), construction began in 1938, was interrupted by World War II, and finally completed in 1951. Originally planned as a dramatic triumphal entrance to the city from the north — serving the historic Via Flaminia and Via Cassia routes — it was briefly known by other names before receiving its present title in honor of the ancient consular road.

    Bocca della Verita

Bocca della Verità (the Mouth of Truth) is one of Rome’s most legendary and atmospheric attractions, a massive ancient marble mask that has captivated visitors for centuries. Set into the wall of the portico of the beautiful medieval church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, this enormous circular disc measures about 1.75 meters in diameter and weighs roughly 1,300 kilograms. Carved from pavonazzetto marble, it depicts a bearded male face — most likely the sea titan Oceanus — with hollow eyes, nostrils, and a gaping mouth. Historians believe it originally served as a decorative drain cover in ancient Rome, possibly linked to the nearby Temple of Hercules Victor or the Cloaca Maxima, the great sewer of the Eternal City.
