Escape London to Kent, known as The Garden of England!
Thirty-two minutes from London Bridge by direct train sits Tonbridge — a medieval market town on the River Medway. This day tour includes 4 visits:
1. Proper English pub! The Nelson Arms — CAMRA Kent Regional Pub of the Year 2023 and 2024, and one of the last four pubs shortlisted for CAMRA National Pub of the Year 2023. A guided ale trial of Kentish cask ales to find your favourite.
2. Tonbridge Castle — a Norman fortress built after 1066 to guard the crossing of the River Medway on the road from Hastings to London. Nearly a thousand years of history, free to walk through.
3. A riverboat cruise on the Medway follows — quiet, electric-powered, the skipper sharing local history as you glide past willows, meadows and wildlife.
4. Finish with a proper English cream tea: scones, clotted cream, jam and a pot of tea by the riverside in a teahouse.

We do an ale trial: a guided tasting flight of Kentish cask ales. Included is 2 x 1/3s, 1 x pickled egg and pork scratchings. For children or those not drinking, we have a range of Kentish juices to trail!

Explore the ruins, the moat and climb to the top of the mount to see the Kent countryside and look down a very deep well! Good to make a wish!

Explore the outside of the castle grounds and experience what it was like to be kept outside of the grounds.

Enjoy a traditional cream tea beside the river at a tea room. Your tea, 2 x scones, jam and cream is included in the price of the tour. Delicious, fresh and delightful to finish off the tour.

We will walk past the miniture railway, where you can have a ride at a discretionary donation. This is run by volunteers and enthusiasts and isn't always running; fingers crossed it is so you can have a go!

Enjoy a 60-minute tour of the river Medway to discover the history and importance of this river to Tonbridge, Kent and England. View the bridge, the castle, the lock all from the comfort of the boat, which is uncovered in the sun and has a covering should it rain.
