  Villa Troubetzkoy

  Alexander Troubetzkoy was a Russian prince. He arrived here in Como in 1850 fleeing Russia because he was an enemy of the Tsar. He decided to build his house in this position right on the shore and, to do so, completely destroyed the cliff using mines. People gave him the nickname of the cliff destroyer. It is now a special 5-star hotel stars for special events

  Villa Le Fontanelle

  at the home of Gianni Versace, the famous Italian designer. When he was in Italy that was his home. He loved this house very much and rebuilt it respecting the original Italian style. After his death the Villa was bought by Russian entrepreneur Arkady Novikov, the king of restaurants.

  Cernobbio

  Villa d’Este is a splendid 5-star hotel, one of the best in Italy. At the end of the sixteenth century, in the area where the Villa stands today, Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio had a private residence built called Villa del Garovo, after the river that flows nearby. In 1815 it became the residence of Caroline Amalia of Brunswick, Princess of Wales, and was renamed New Villa d’Este in tribute to the alleged Este origins of the princess. At the end of the nineteenth century it was converted into a hotel.
