We start in style, hopping on the back of bikes ridden by local moto-taxi drivers who carry us up to the top of the favela. From there we explore the alleyways on foot, getting an up-close look at everyday family life and the small businesses that keep the community thriving. Along the way your guide shares the real history of Rio's favelas and how daily life works inside them, going beyond the headlines and stereotypes. The grand finale: we visit and play a match on the legendary rooftop football court made world-famous by the 'FIFA Street' video game, taking in sweeping views over the city. Tours run in English, Portuguese or Italian, with Italian-speaking groups guided by a native Italian speaker.

Meet your guide on the sidewalk in front of Rua Bento Lisboa 72, Catete (a 5-min walk from Catete metro station, Line 1). Look for a guide holding a Vidapiena sign; they'll greet you by the lead traveler's name. Tour starts and ends here. Please arrive 10 minutes before departure.
