Unlike many traditional craft demonstrations, this workshop is fully hands-on and designed specifically for beginners.

In our intimate Tokyo studio, you'll learn the philosophy of kintsugi—the Japanese art of embracing imperfections—while creating your own repaired ceramic piece and decorated chopstick rest. We use beginner-friendly materials and provide step-by-step guidance, making the experience accessible even if you have no artistic background.

What to expect

Discover the Japanese art of kintsugi, the traditional practice of repairing broken pottery and highlighting its cracks with gold.

During this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the philosophy behind kintsugi and repair a broken ceramic piece step by step using beginner-friendly materials and techniques. You’ll carefully match the broken pieces, glue them together, and finish the repaired cracks with gold decoration.

While the repaired piece dries, you’ll also draw gold lines on your chopstick rest to take home as a unique souvenir.

By the end of the experience, you’ll have:
• Learned the history and philosophy of kintsugi
• Repaired a ceramic piece using kintsugi-inspired techniques
• Decorated a chopstick rest with gold
• Taken photos of your finished creations
• Experienced a unique aspect of Japanese culture in an intimate studio setting

No prior experience is necessary. This workshop is designed for beginners and welcomes participants of all skill levels.
