    Mt. Kintoki

Mount Kintoki, standing at 1,212 meters, is the highest peak in Hakone’s outer rim mountains. The hike starts at about 700 m and climbs to the summit. The first half follows peaceful forest trails. You'll discover seasonal plants while learning about Hakone's nature from your guide. Mt. Kintoki is famous as the setting of the Kintaro legend. As we hike, we'll visit several spots connected to the legend and explore the local culture. The second half of the trail becomes steeper and more challenging. However, you may catch views through the trees of Owakudani’s volcanic valley and Lake Ashi, which was formed by volcanic activity. You'll discover Hakone's unique landscape inside a massive volcanic caldera. On clear days, the summit offers spectacular views of Mt. Fuji. At the summit, we'll enjoy a simple mountain hut lunch, such as udon or miso soup. After the challenging climb, the warm meal makes for a truly memorable experience.
