Unlike traditional sunset cruises that begin and end at the same marina, this one-way experience lets you discover Puerto Vallarta by both land and sea. Explore historic Mismaloya and "The Night of the Iguana" movie-set ruins, circle the five islands and three caves of Los Arcos at sunset, then watch the remaining daylight change through shades of gold, pink, purple, and blue as you cruise north along the coast. Finish beside the illuminated Malecón at the famous Los Muertos Pier, directly in the heart of Zona Romántica.
We meet in front of the oxxo at the Pemex Gas Station in Zona Romantica.
The tour ends after we drop you off at the pier at Los Muertos Beach in Zona Romantica.
Meet your guide at our convenient pickup point at the Pemex gas station in Zona Romántica, located in front of the OXXO. From here, travel approximately 15 minutes south along the coastal highway toward Mismaloya. During the drive, enjoy scenic views of Banderas Bay, the Sierra Madre mountains, jungle-covered hillsides, beaches, and coastal communities.
Arrive in Mismaloya, the historic beach town that helped introduce Puerto Vallarta to international travelers. Walk through the local community and discover the fishing boats, beachfront restaurants, small businesses, and traditional atmosphere that make Mismaloya unique. Your guide will share the story of the town and explain how the filming of The Night of the Iguana brought worldwide attention to Puerto Vallarta during the 1960s.
Continue along Mismaloya’s beachfront walkway, where the abandoned remains associated with The Night of the Iguana still overlook the beach. The old structures now sit almost like a small ghost town, offering a fascinating glimpse into the movie history that changed the future of Puerto Vallarta. Follow the walkway to the end of the beach, where the Mismaloya pier and your boat are waiting.
As we leave Mismaloya Bay, enjoy panoramic views of the jungle-covered Sierra Madre mountains while cruising toward Los Arcos de Mismaloya. Navigate around the five rocky islands and three caves as your guide shares insights about the area’s natural formations, birdlife, and local stories. Observe seabirds such as pelicans and frigatebirds flying above and resting on the islands, and take in sights like Turtle Island, Devil’s Stain, and the Cave of Christ. Conclude this portion by enjoying the sunset from the waters surrounding Los Arcos, as the evening light illuminates the islands and the sky transforms into vibrant colors over Banderas Bay.
After the sunset, begin the return journey toward Puerto Vallarta by water. As we cruise north along the coastline, watch the last remaining daylight slowly fade in a beautiful display of changing shades and colors. Gold, orange, pink, purple, and deep-blue tones spread across the sky and reflect over Banderas Bay as evening settles over the coast. Along the way, admire beaches, jungle-covered mountains, coastal villas, and communities as their lights gradually begin to appear. The route offers views of areas such as: Paredón Sierra del Mar Playa Palmares Playa Gemelas Garza Blanca Conchas Chinas Traveling back by water gives guests a completely different perspective of Puerto Vallarta’s southern coastline from the scenic highway experienced at the beginning of the tour.
Approach downtown Puerto Vallarta from the ocean as the city begins to come alive for the evening. Cruise beside the Malecón and enjoy views of its sculptures, restaurants, historic buildings, nightlife, and city lights from the water. Your guide will share information about the history of downtown Puerto Vallarta, the Malecón, and the transformation of the city from a small coastal community into one of Mexico’s best-known destinations. This part of the journey connects the natural beauty of Los Arcos with the lively evening atmosphere of Puerto Vallarta.
The tour concludes beneath the famous sail-shaped Los Muertos Pier in Zona Romántica. Disembark directly at Los Muertos Beach, within easy walking distance of restaurants, bars, shops, the Malecón, and many Zona Romántica hotels. Guests may continue exploring the neighborhood, enjoy dinner beside the beach, or experience Puerto Vallarta’s nightlife independently.
