From here, travel approximately 15 minutes south along the coastal highway toward Mismaloya.   Arrive in Mismaloya, the historic beach town that helped introduce Puerto Vallarta to international travelers. Walk through the local community and discover the fishing boats, beachfront restaurants, small businesses, and traditional atmosphere that make Mismaloya unique. Your guide will share the story of the town and explain how the filming of The Night of the Iguana brought worldwide attention to Puerto Vallarta during the 1960s.

  Continue along Mismaloya’s beachfront walkway, where the abandoned remains associated with The Night of the Iguana still overlook the beach. Follow the walkway to the end of the beach, where the Mismaloya pier and your boat are waiting.

  Los Arcos de Mismaloya

  As we leave Mismaloya Bay, enjoy panoramic views of the jungle-covered Sierra Madre mountains while cruising toward Los Arcos de Mismaloya. Navigate around the five rocky islands and three caves as your guide shares insights about the area’s natural formations, birdlife, and local stories. Observe seabirds such as pelicans and frigatebirds flying above and resting on the islands, and take in sights like Turtle Island, Devil’s Stain, and the Cave of Christ.   Bay of Banderas

  After the sunset, begin the return journey toward Puerto Vallarta by water. As we cruise north along the coastline, watch the last remaining daylight slowly fade in a beautiful display of changing shades and colors. Gold, orange, pink, purple, and deep-blue tones spread across the sky and reflect over Banderas Bay as evening settles over the coast. Along the way, admire beaches, jungle-covered mountains, coastal villas, and communities as their lights gradually begin to appear.
