This 4-day, self-guided trip is for those who want to trek the famous W Circuit in the shortest possible time. Drive to Torres del Paine National Park from Puerto Natales on the first day of the trip. Your trek begins after you have carried out all the necessary paperwork at the national park entrance.
Reach Paine Grande on the third day of the trip via Base Torres and French Valley. Trek past Lake Pehoe on the last day of the trip and end your journey in Puerto Natales. Departure from Puerto Natales at 07:00 a.m. by a regular bus service to Torres del Paine National Park.
Arrival at 09:45 hrs in Laguna Amarga Entrance, where you will fill a form, pay the entrance ticket to the park and watch a short video regarding the park regulations. Shuttle to the Welcome Center Estancia Cerro Paine. Short walk to Refugio Torre Central for checking-in and leaving the luggage at custody before hiking to Base Torres. Hiking to Base Torres (Distance: 11 km – 7 miles / Time: 7-9 hrs. approx. /Difficulty: high) Dinner at the cafeteria.
Today's trekking begins through the Ascencio Valley, enjoying its extensive forests. During the final ascent, you cross an immense field of giant rocks until you reach one of the most emblematic viewpoints in the world, the famous "Mirador Base Torres".
After having breakfast at the Torre Central shelter and ordering your box lunch, you must take the Las Torres transfer at 8:30 am that will leave you again in Laguna Amarga, where you will have to get on the Bus Sur bus that comes from Puerto Natales so that I will take you to Pudeto.
At 10:30 am you must board the Hielos Patagónico catamaran, which will sail for approximately 35 minutes across Lake Pehoé, arriving directly at the Paine Grande refuge. From here the walk to Gray begins.
Begin your journey through a narrow and winding valley that leads to Laguna Los Patos. As you continue advancing, you will begin to see parts of the immense Southern Ice Fields, as well as the ice floes of Lake Gray. After passing the windy viewpoint, the path descends through a mountainous forest until reaching the Gray refuge. From here, if you continue walking for about 10 minutes, you will reach the Gray Glacier viewpoint, where you will find yourself face to face with one of the arms of Campos de Hielo Sur. Dinner will be served at the shelter between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
Start today by enjoying a delicious breakfast in the Gray refuge dining room and don't forget to order your box lunch. If you were unable to visit the suspension bridges the previous afternoon, or were very tired, you can take the morning of this day to explore the spectacular panoramic views of Gray Glacier. Today you will walk the same trail to go back to Paine Grande. Rest and enjoy dinner in the refuge's dining room.
Hike to the French Valley – Catamaran – Return to Puerto Natales Today's walk will be round trip, starting and ending in Paine Grande. Travel to the heart of the park, bordering the blue waters of Lake Skottsberg.
After approximately 2.5 hours of walking, you will arrive at the Italiano camp (park ranger), where you will begin your journey to the French Valley. Climb large rocks and then continue through the forest until you reach the French viewpoint.
At 5:30 p.m. you must take the catamaran that will take you back to Pudeto, where you must board the regular bus at 6:00 p.m. to Puerto Natales. The approximate time of arrival in Natales is 9:15 p.m.
