This tour takes you to the heart of the Cuyabeno Wildlife Production Reserve, one of the most biodiverse areas on the planet.

Throughout this experience, you will live a total immersion in the jungle: river navigations, hikes through the primary jungle, wildlife sighting, cultural encounters with indigenous communities and unique experiences such as swimming in the Laguna Grande or participating in an ancestral clean with a shaman.

Itinerary

Duration: 4 days (approximately)
    Day 1

    Meeting with the guide, transfer to the Lodge in Cuayabeno reserve and first contact with the jungle

    Once at the Cuyabeno Bridge, we will meet a guide who will give a welcome talk, before heading towards the Jungle Lodge.

    After the welcome talk, we will start the canoe navigation along the Cuyabeno River towards the lodge. Once there, we will be waiting for a delicious lunch. After lunch, the rooms will be delivered and you will have time to rest.

    We will visit the large lagoon where you will have the possibility to swim and enjoy the sunset. Lugo, back at the lodge, we'll have a nightlife activity looking for alligators and boas. Finally, at the end of the day, dinner will be served in the accommodation.

  • Day 2

    Jungle exploration and wildlife sighting in Reserva del Cuyabeno

    After breakfast, we will hike in Selva Pimaria with a native bilingual guide, where we can observe medicinal flora, birds, reptiles and mammals. After this activity, you can have lunch and enjoy your free time.

    In the afternoon we will start a navigation to search for fauna (sloths, dolphins, monkeys, birds, etc.). Then in the evening we will take a hike to observe nocturnal animals (45 min to 1 hour). Finally, we will return to the hotel to enjoy dinner and rest.

    Visit to the Community in the Cuyabeno Reserve and typical lunch

    After breakfast, we will board a boat to head into the Primary Forest. There we will visit an original community, which will welcome us with typical fruits. We will also have the possibility to prepare and taste Casabe (typical food). Lunch will be held right there (we will not return to the Lodge). In the afternoon we will visit the Shaman, the doctor of the Community, with whom we will have a conversation about how they live, ancient medicine, and will explain on the preparation of AYAHUASCA (not ingested).

    Once back at the Lodge, we will take a walk along the Big Lagoon. In the evening you will have free time to enjoy dinner.

    Bird watching and return

    Early in the morning (around 5:30 am) we will make a birdwatch. Back, at the end of that experience, we will have time for Breakfast, after which you will have free time to prepare your luggage.

    Finally, we will return to the Cuyabeno Bridge, and during the navigation along the Cuyabeno River we can make one last sighting of fauna. Once in Puente de Cuyabeno, where we met on the first day, we will say goodbye.

  • Suitable for all physical fitness levels
  • Passengers must arrive at Puente de Cuyabeno on their own, where they will meet a guide who will take them to the Lodge.
  • To get to Puente de Cuyabeno, where you will meet the staff, you can hire a tour bus, which departs from Quito the night before, from the area of Plaza Foch Hostal Blue House (Joaquín Pinto y Diego de Almagro) 22:30 p.m. and for tourists from the Historic Center, Hostal Guayunga (José de Antepara y Vicente León) 23:00 p.m., direct trip to our meeting point.
