Continue to the parking area at approximately 4,500 meters (14,764 feet) above sea level. From here, travelers can hike toward the José Rivas Refuge, located at 4,864 meters (15,958 feet). Along the way, experience the dramatic volcanic landscape and enjoy spectacular views of one of the world’s highest active volcanoes.

Visit the beautiful Limpiopungo Lagoon, one of the most scenic locations in Cotopaxi National Park. Enjoy panoramic views of Cotopaxi Volcano reflected in the water on clear days, observe native vegetation, and spot local wildlife such as wild horses, Andean birds, rabbits, and caracaras.
