    Lao Chai

There is a side of Sapa that most travelers never see—one that reveals itself when you leave the busy streets behind and explore with someone who has called these mountains home all her life. I’m Surelee, a Hmong woman born and raised in Muong Hoa Valley. Today, we’ll follow local paths once used by my family to reach school, rice fields, and neighboring villages. We’ll trek through traditional villages, rice terraces, and peaceful valleys before stopping for lunch at a local restaurant in Lao Chai. Along the way, discover Hmong traditions, beliefs, daily life, hemp weaving, natural indigo, and embroidery.

In the afternoon, we’ll arrive at Surelee Homestay, my family’s traditional Hmong home in Ban Pho Village. After a full day of trekking, you’ll have time to shower, relax, and settle in. Later, join us for a complimentary cooking class, prepare local dishes together, and enjoy a homemade family dinner. After dinner, unwind and spend a peaceful night at the homestay. Your large luggage can be transferred here in advance from pickup point, so you only need to carry a small backpack during the trek.
