Authentic Javanese Jewelry Making Class in Kotagede

Step into Salim Silver, a historic family-run workshop inside a traditional Javanese home in Kotagede, and create your own silver jewelry during a three-hour hands-on class.

Choose to make a ring, pendant, or bracelet, then bring your own sketch or adapt one of the designs. An artisan will help adjust your idea so it can be completed during the session. Next, transfer the design onto the silver and learn traditional repoussé and chasing techniques. Shape and emboss the metal, add texture and fine details, then form and solder the piece.

They will guide you step by step and assist with hot or technically difficult stages when needed. Finish by sanding and polishing your jewelry, with optional oxidation for an antique look.

Five grams of silver and all tools are included. Additional silver is available for IDR 70,000 per gram. No experience is required, and you’ll take home the finished piece you created.
