1Cholitas Wrestling
In the ring of El Alto you will see the Cholitas Luchadoras enter dressed in flight skirts, fringed shawls, caps, and braids tied with tullmas, ready to fight for real. Keys, falls from the third rope and almost two hours of Bolivian lucha libre matches, with the same craft and the same theatricality as any professional show. You will feel the public of El Alto around you, shouting before the match and whistling after, correcting the referee out loud and choosing their favorite in every game, like someone who knows the script by heart and is still surprised. It is not a show put on for tourists: it is a real afternoon from El Alto to which you are invited, with its own routine and its usual audience. After the fights, the wrestlers get off the ring and stay for a while for photos, still with their breathing high and their braids half undone, so you can take a picture with them.
