Continue your journey to Dilijan, a charming town often called the “Little Switzerland of Armenia” for its lush forests and fresh mountain air. Just a short drive away, hidden deep in the greenery, lies the Haghartsin Monastery. Dating back to the 13th century, this architectural gem was once an important center of education and culture. Surrounded by nature, it offers both tranquility and a glimpse into Armenia’s medieval heritage.
Depart ti Ashtarak and visit the small yet remarkable Karmravor Church, dating back to the 7th century. Known for its red-tiled dome, from which it gets its name (Karmravor means “reddish”), this well-preserved gem is one of Armenia’s oldest standing churches. Despite its modest size, it carries great historical and spiritual significance, offering a glimpse into early Armenian Christian architecture.
Depart to the 13th-century Saghmosavank Monastery, dramatically located on the edge of the Kasagh River Gorge. Known as the “Monastery of the Psalms”, it was once a vital spiritual and educational center of medieval Armenia.
