Bottom fishing is the relaxed side of fishing in Cozumel and the charter Sea Candy Cozumel recommends for families, kids and first time anglers who want a high success rate. We fish the rich reefs that surround the island at a calmer pace than deep sea fishing, with time to enjoy the scenery and the company while the fish keep coming on board.

The usual catch is snapper, grouper and triggerfish among other reef species. No experience is needed, the crew guides you through every step and helps you land each fish.

Every trip includes all fishing gear, beer, soft drinks, water, fresh guacamole and seasonal fruit, and the crew cleans and fillets your catch before you step off the boat. Fish ceviche is added on 6 hour trips and ham and cheese sandwiches on 8 hour trips.

Choose 4, 6 or 8 hours for up to 6 guests. We depart from Marina Caleta, with pickup available at the piers of selected hotels, and the boat is private, so you set the pace of the day.

Pickup details:

Pickup by boat at the pier of selected hotels on the west coast of Cozumel. Choose your hotel pier when booking and be at the pier a few minutes before your start time. Hotels charge a pier fee that you pay directly at the pier and the amount varies by hotel. Travelers staying elsewhere meet the crew at Marina Caleta.

Meeting point

Go to the Marina Caleta Cozumel on the coastal road south of San Miguel de Cozumel and look for the Sea Candy boat and crew at the Marina's bocana. You can also ask for the exact boat location at the Marina's entry office. Please arrive 15 minutes before your start time.

What to expect

Meet the crew at Marina Caleta or at your hotel pier at your chosen start time. The captain anchors over the reefs around the island and the crew sets up light tackle for every guest. Kids and beginners get help with every fish. Back at the pier your catch is cleaned and filleted for you to take with you.
