    Materuni Waterfalls

    After pickup from your Arusha hotel, drive to Materuni, a Chagga village on the green lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Walk with a local guide for about 45 minutes along footpaths through banana plantations, coffee farms and lush forest to Materuni Waterfall, which drops around 80 metres into a rocky pool. Take photos, relax in the cool mist, and swim in the pool if you're brave enough for the cold water. Back in the village, join a hands-on Chagga coffee experience. Learn how the beans are grown, then roast, grind and brew them the traditional way while your hosts sing and share stories of Chagga life. Enjoy a local lunch with your freshly brewed coffee before returning to Arusha in the late afternoon. On clear days, look out for views of Kilimanjaro along the way. Wear sturdy shoes and bring swimwear and a towel, as the trail can be steep and slippery in places
