Thanks for coming to our tour to the City of Srebrenica, a location whose complicated past has influenced the area. The battery plant, which was used by UN soldiers during the Bosnian war, is where we start. One of Bosnia and Herzegovina's most contemporary museums, the Museum of Srebrenica Genocide, will be our destination. We will be given a personal tour of the museum by the curator, who will also relate personal accounts of surviving in the Srebrenica enclave. A variety of films are among the multimedia resources available at the museum to help you understand the circumstances leading up to the biggest atrocity in Europe since World War II. After that, we will go to the Memorial Room and hear a local journalist tell the victims' story. The massacre's perpetrators are honored in a portion of the Memorial Room.
We also visit the Memorial Cemetery, where you may pay your respects to the victims who have been identified. As of right now, there are 6575 identified fatalities, and this figure keeps rising each. In 2003, former US President Bill Clinton formally dedicated the memorial. Since then, hundreds of victims have been buried annually. The crime was so widespread that victims are still being barricaded and removed from local mass graves.
Our journey will then take us to the city of Srebrenica, a once-thriving industrial hub and one of the oldest settlements of people, now a ghost city. This is where we will have lunch, as there are limited dining options in the vicinity. Join us on this unforgettable tour to gain a deeper appreciation of the history and culture of the City of Srebrenica and how it has shaped the region.
