Let me give you a sneak peek into Tel Aviv’s street art scene.
On this tour we walk through the neighborhood and look at the walls, the murals and the writing on the wall. But the real reason I do it is to show you the scene from the inside, because something changed here recently.
A new wave of artists joined in, and they brought a lot of color to the city. The municipality gave up on stopping it. Now developers sell new apartments with the graffiti underneath. My tag is worth money today. I never planned that.
Along the way I’ll share a unique kind of graffiti art that exists only in Israel, and only in this neighborhood. I’ll tell you who paints where and what the unwritten rules of the street are. Since October 7th the walls have changed. You’ll see sorrow, and also hope for better times, as the art comes back to life. I paint live too, and I’ve watched this scene grow from the inside. Come walk it with me and ask me anything.
Outside Elifelet Station (Red Line light rail), Tel Aviv Meet outside Elifelet Station (Red Line), Tel Aviv. I’ll be there 10 minutes early. Can’t find us? Message me on Viator.
The tour ends in the heart of Florentin, surrounded by the street art we’ve been talking about. From there you can stay in the neighborhood for a coffee, a bite or a drink, or take a taxi or bus back to your hotel.
At Michaelson Applied Art Gallery, we step off the street and into the gallery to see how the art you’ve just seen on the walls connects to the wider Tel Aviv art scene. You’ll see the current exhibition, hear about the artists and the ideas behind their work, and have time to look around and ask questions.
Stroll through Neve Tzedek, Tel Aviv’s first neighborhood outside Jaffa, and see how its old lanes became a home for art and design.
In Florentin, you’ll walk through one of Tel Aviv’s most colorful neighborhoods, where old workshops, crowded alleys and bare walls have become the city’s street art capital. I’ll show you the murals and the stories behind them, explain how the scene started, and share the unwritten rules of the street. This is where I paint, so you’ll see it through an artist’s eyes.
In Kiryat HaMelacha, Tel Aviv’s old industrial quarter, you’ll see street art on a bigger scale, with huge walls, working garages and workshops, and murals that cover whole buildings. I’ll show you how the scene moved from small alleys to giant pieces, tell you the stories behind them, and give you a look at the part of the city most visitors never see.
At Under 1000 Art Gallery, you’ll step inside a gallery that makes art easy to approach, with works by local artists at accessible prices. You’ll see how the street art you’ve been looking at connects to art people can take home, and you’ll have time to browse and ask about the artists.
At Tiny Tiny Gallery, you’ll see one of Florentin’s most unusual spots: a gallery so small that the art is almost within arm’s reach. I’ll tell you about the artists who’ve shown here and why a space this small became part of the neighborhood’s art scene. It’s a quick, fun stop, and a good photo.
